About
I have been doing this for many years and have worked with many other tutors as well, learning their tricks. Many times, too many to count, students have told me I make it so easy to learn, that I have said things just the right way.
There is no greater thing than seeing the light come on in a student's eyes when they had previously been confused and often stressed and upset at their lack of understanding. I love watching a student go from this'll never work, I'm broken, to okay then, I'm actually starting to like this a bit.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First sessions are about getting to know the student and getting a handle on their learning style so as to adapt the tutoring to it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Tutoring since middle school and teaching since the 90s.
Science degree, business degree, education degree
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I try to be affordable and always less than the going rate. I also only charge by the session and not the hour. I find most sessions last from an hour to two. It really depends on the attention span/age/stamina of the student.
How did you get started teaching?
I worked in a tutor lab when getting started in college. We had so many students needing help in math that we were overwhelmed. Since all of the math courses had set syllabi, we started doing teaching sessions on the topics of the week in the various classes. That way we were able to help many more of the students in need.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages. I have also had extensive experience and training working with students with various learning and physical disabilities. I have also taught adaptive technologies, Dragon Dictate for example.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The most awesome thing about teaching and tutoring is the thrill of getting to see the light of understanding come on in someone's eyes as connections are being made.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone you can have a conversation with, someone who doesn't intimidate you. Preferably find someone who comes recommended by someone you trust.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Tutoring sessions can only be but so long, so the best thing to do is accomplish as much beforehand as possible leaving only the parts of your work that you're really stuck on for sharing with the tutor.
