About
I have tutored various subjects for 6 years at a community college. I mostly tutor math now, but I am open to other subjects. I have successfully tutored many people of all ages and backgrounds and have been told that I was the only tutor they liked. I have an easy-going, relaxed style and I try to make learning fun. There is no better feeling than getting someone to say they don't hate math any longer and to see that spark of recognition and accomplishment. I have a BS degree in Horticulture/Botany and I continue my education currently. I am taking Linear Algebra this semester.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask them what they want to do. If it's a middle school or high school student I try to find out what they plan to do with their life and as I tutor I try to instill in them the importance of learning and getting good grades. I explain my rules about payment and missed appointments and ask them to send the material they work on in school to me so that we can keep up with the class.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BS in horticulture / botany and I an currently continuing my education. I take one class most semesters. This semester I am taking Linear Algebra at community college.

I started as a tutor at community college when my teacher suggessted I could help other students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with elementary, Middle school, high school, and college students. I have also worked with many veterans who have recently gotten out of service. I work with lots of adult learners trying to go back to school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire someone who sounds good and after you meet, if you don't feel good about them and comfortable, fire them and get someone else. It's a lot of money and it should be worth it.
