About
I am a public school teacher who has taught 2nd grade for 6 years. I have a a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary liberal studies and a Master of Arts in Teaching elementary education with an algebra 1 endorsement. I am also scheduled to complete my reading specialist endorsement in May of 2025. I have the most experience with literacy and math skills typically taught in kindergarten through 3rd grade and have worked with most elementary school ages.
When tutoring students in reading, I begin with a phonics screener to determine strengths and areas of growth. This determines where I begin my lessons! I also welcome parent input on student strengths and challenges. During tutoring sessions, I like to incorporate games and hands-on experiences whenever possible. I am passionate about early literacy skills and also love teaching math!
