Hi! My name is David, and I'm an incoming graduate student at VCU, specializing in rhetoric and linguistics. I have written two books (working on my third) of essays on topics like the self, currencies, particles, and the history of civilization! What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will immediately ask about the student's goals and hopes and dreams in order to best address the immediate issues of literacy and communication! From there, we will form a step by step plan of goals to reach in the short and long term.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have experience as a consultant developing cloud based data management systems for Fortune 500 companies, as well as a background in brand development. I am an excellent critical and creative thinker, able to easily conceptualize and structure ideas - essential for good writing and communication.

How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching with special needs students in my hometown of Herndon, Virginia as a TA.
I have also spent several years as a camp counselor - which helped me figure out how to make learning fun!
I also tutored at my undergraduate university as a tutor to several other students in my critical theory and literature courses! I see learning and thinking as a community, where everyone learns together - so teaching comes very naturally to me.
