Hi, my name is Tori. I am a senior civil engineering student at Old Dominion University. I’ve been tutoring various math subjects for the past three years with students ranging from middle school to college. I tutor online through Zoom or other video chat platforms.
My mission is to ensure that my student succeeds in the goals they set for themselves and teach them techniques not taught in the classroom but through my personal experience in a math-dominant field. One of my favorite things about tutoring is seeing how differently everyone learns and teaching me how to adapt my instructional methods to suit that student best.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I confirm that our session meeting time(s) are precise and the Zoom link is sent a day in advance.
In the first few sessions, I take a little time, in the beginning, to get to know them and tell them a little about myself so they feel safe and comfortable in our sessions.
I start each lesson by asking what they want to work on today or if they have any questions for me, and then I go from there. It can be different from student to student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taken math through Calculus III and Differential Equations.
I have three years of experience tutoring Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-Calc.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing for all math subjects:
30 minutes: $20 45 minutes: $25
1 hour: $30 90 minutes: $45
Except Calculus (due to extra prep time):
30 minutes: $25 45 minutes: $30
1 hour: $35 90 minutes: $50
How did you get started teaching?
I had always enjoyed helping my friends with math problems in high school, and I realized I could put those skills to use for more people, so I started officially tutoring as a freshman in college.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with mainly middle and high school students, with the occasional college student.
