About this tutor

I consider myself to have an excellent understanding of essays and essay writing at the high school level and above. I am currently a rising junior in an Bachelor's of Arts in English program. I will also be state lisenced to teach English to grades 6-12 upon gradation in May of 2022. I look forward to a long career in education.

I have one year of professional tutoring experince working with community college students. Since 2018, my jobs have been centered around education, including working as a subtitute teacher and in my institution's Office of Student Engagement.

I have never gotten less than a A on any paper in my college career. On top of the universal guidelines for essays, a large part of successful writing is understanding and meeting the expectations of your specific instrucor, which I can help you do. My goal for our session will not be simply to help you write your essay, but also help you find your voice. What you have to say is important, so speak your mind!

I enjoy helping students find their voice and expression through writing. Many students who struggle in English often tell me, "I don't know what to say" or "I do not know how I say what I think".

I always remind students that what they have to say is important and valuable and that their instructors want to read their ideas in essay format.

I hope to make my students feel confident in their essay in terms of format, grammar, and organization.

Great tutor! She helped me with all steps in my essays — prewriting, writing process, and the revision — and I learned appropriate diction for each. She also helped me with MLA citation and appropriate diction. 5/5 would definitely recommend this Tutor. All essays received grades of A+

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I specalize in essay writing. A typical session will be determined by the student's current progress on the assignment. Together, we will review the guidelines for project.

After the expectations for the assignment are understood, we will review the current. If needed, we will reorganize ideas. I will explain general guidelines for the specific style of essay.

I will check for grammar mistakes and clarity of the writing. I will leave any notes or comments needed to finish the assignment should we not finish during our session.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have one year experince as a Teacher's Assistant and Tutor, one year experince as a substitute teacher, and one year experince working in my college's Office of Student Engagment.

I have completed half of my Bachelor's program and I have a 4.0 GPA.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I charge $10 per hour, but am willing to be flexible!

How did you get started teaching?

When I was just starting college, I was invited to work as a TA for the remedial English classes at my institution. Under my mentors and alongside my students, I developed a passion for essay writing and teaching.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have mainly worked with high school graduates. I also have experience with ESL (English Second Langauage) students.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

My advice to any future students or student taking English is to communicate with your instructor. Many instructors have specicifc requirements for assignments that go beyond standard MLA format and guidelines. The easiest way to succeed is to understand the expectations of the class and adhere to them.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Students should have read any required materials or the essay, such as literature or articles, have reasy access to assignment details and rubrics from their instructor, and write a rough outline or draft of their inital ideas. It is much more difficult to help a student who is not familar with the assignment with which they would like assitance.
