About

{{To contact me txt 541.271.8093. Otherwise I am charged $15/message to you.}}Every student is different and so every tutor must be able to adapt and learn their student in order to teach them. Each student’s tutoring will start with a short discussion on what they feel their strengths and weaknesses are at the topic in hand. Afterwards, we can start after I have a good feeling of what it is you need help on. Tutoring will go as swiftly as you need it to or as slowly. No student is unteachable!

I enjoy helping students find passion in their studies and reminding them that they are so much smarter than they realize. It's amazing to see the light come back into a child's eyes after they finally "get" something that they have been struggling with.

We hired Rayla as a last resort for our high school son. He was failing two classes and was told by his coach that he needed to ace all midterms to continue to play on the team. With just 8 sessions, Rayla had him ready for his midterms. He aced every single one and has since brought up his grades too. She not only helped him to learn his subjects, but also helped him learn studying skills.

She worked with both my son and daughter each week. Even though they started their sessions failing their English classes, she quickly accessed the damage and calculated exact grades needed to pass by the end of the year. She pushed my kids to do their absolute best and made them care about school again! I can’t thank her enough!

    Frequently asked questions

First we will speak about their feelings in the topic. I would like to know their strengths and weaknesses with it first. Then I’d like to know their goals moving forward, the frequency they want to get tutored and any hard deadlines (such as an upcoming test or when their next paper is due) they have. Our first session will allow me to fully understand what areas you need help in to meet your goals.

In addition to my MBA, I have taught and substituted several age groups in public schools. I have also tutored everything from grade school math to ASVAB studying. I am versatile and flexible for any student.

Standard pricing is as follows. I charge $20/hour for 1:1 sessions. The fees accommodate my time spent both with you, the time spent preparing for our session and the time spent afterwards creating a fully summarized daily report for you to have on file to study with on everything we covered.

I started teaching and tutoring at a very young age. I excelled in school as a child which lead me to volunteer to teach others in my school. This spiraled into becoming a paid tutor, substitute, and preschool teacher.
I have worked with a very wide range of students from young preschoolers to adults looking to pass the ASVAB. My tutoring has brought me to students in danger of failing those with learning disabilities.
The most recent event that I was fond of was watching a young student of mine learn how to work around a math problem that he didn’t know. Currently, he is learning area and multiplication tables. One of the questions asked him to find the length of a prism given the area and the width. In order to do this, he needed to know all of his 9s. However, he didn’t so he gave up on the question. Instead, I reminded him that multiplication is simply adding. So, if we do not know all of our 9s we can start as high as he does remember. Then we add to get to where we want.
I would say to be open to learning things differently and being honest. The only way for any tutor to help is to know the actual problem. For example, many parents will conclude that a student is “lazy” because they didn’t do a worksheet. In reality, the problem may be that they do not understand any of the questions and gave up.
They need to know their strengths and weaknesses so that time isn’t wasted re-teaching something that they already know.
