Frazier Math Tutoring
About
Hello! I am currently a Junior pursuing a degree in mathematics at Virginia Common University. Every child has a different way of thinking about mathematics, which is why I tailor my tutoring to each child and personalize how I teach to best fit the child that I am tutoring. My top priority when tutoring is to understand how your child is thinking and what is the best way to help them better think about mathematics. I have done extensive research on learning techniques and how to teach in a way so that the information is interacting with several different parts of the brain, which deepens the ability of the student to retain the information being taught. I have experience tutoring grades 2-12 up to Calculus BC and have previously worked at a math tutoring center.
I am extremely passionate about mathematics and I love helping children gain not only a better understanding of mathematics, but also gain an intuitive way of thinking about mathematics.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The way I approach tutoring is that it is completely based on the student because the best way to learn is different for everyone and everyone gets confused about different parts of a concept or problem. That is why the first thing I do when I meet with a new student is to talk to them and determine, which learning style best suits them. I am a strong believer in the Feynman technique, which states if you can explain a topic in a straightforward manner then you understand the topic. That's why for any topic I have my student explain it to me in their own words and this allows me to directly see the part of the topic that they are struggling to understand. From there I help build the students understanding to where they can then teach the topic to someone else.
