About

I have always been passionate about reading and writing and would love to help other students reach their English goals through hands-on engagement. I took AP Language, Literature, and Creative Writing classes in high school, as well as Communications during my first two semesters of college at Virginia Tech this past year. My experience comes from tutoring kids of family friends over the past few years.

I enjoy helping other students because I have been in their position myself, and want them to have the best understanding of the subject at hand as possible so they will be able to eagerly further their education.

Frequently asked questions

I will have the student show me what they need assistance with, have them demonstrate what they are already able to do, and work with them to gain an understanding of the subject so that they are able to complete the task on their own in the future.

I took various reading- and writing-intensive courses throughout high school, including AP English Language, AP Literature, AP US History, AP US Government, AP Psychology, and Creative Writing. I also took Communications during my first two semesters at Virginia Tech this year.

I charge at a rate of $20 per hour.

I began tutoring children in my neighborhood at 13 and have helped various family friends throughout the years. I tutored through the STEP program at Chantilly High School while I attended, and also traveled to a local elementary school to teach kids about science through Chantilly High School's chapter of KAST (Kids are Scientists Too).

I have worked with students aged from first grade to junior year of high school. Their levels of help needed have ranged from learning how to read to writing high school-level essays.

I recently returned from my first year away at college, and it was heartwarming to have my younger siblings look up to me and ask for help on their schoolwork as they finish out their last month of school.

Reading and especially writing can both be very personal, so it is important to have a teacher you can easily communicate with in order to produce work you are most confident in.

Students should think about what they truly need help with, as opposed to what they may be scared of trying on their own or tasks they don't want to complete because of their length and difficulty.
