About
Hello! My name is Trisha and I love tutoring! Upon beginning my Creative Writing MFA at George Mason University, I was able to explore teaching through training, pedagogy courses, and instructing/designing my own classes. In addition to three years of experience as a reading and writing tutor, I have taught composition, literature, and creative writing at the college level and have also had the opportunity to teach high school English and Creative Writing courses. Throughout my career in education I have worked with students from diverse backgrounds, including students with disabilities and ELL/ESL students. As a tutor I specialize in writing, including essays, research papers, literary analysis, college applications, theses, resumes/cover letters, creative writing, and more!
My goal for each tutoring session is for my students to come away feeling supported, confident, and inspired. I am passionate about writing and I find a lot of joy in helping students become the best writers and readers they can be. I strive to bring excitement and reassurance to every session. Don't worry if you're feeling stressed or discouraged; I've got your back and we will work together to improve your skills.
Hope to be of service!
I love getting exciting about the potential of every student's work and love finding new ways to give students the strategies and support they need to fully realize the project. It is a joy to see students become stronger, more confident writers and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of that process.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I start each session by asking the student about their goals. Then I ask them what they're working on and try to familiarize myself with the project as much as I can before asking more specific questions about the student's concerns. The first step is always to get to know each other and establish our expectations for the session!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received formal tutor traing from George Mason University. At GMU I also took two pedagogy courses and recieved pedagogical training for teaching composition, literature, and creative writing, respectively. I have been teaching and tutoring for four years.
