I love everything about English and literature, from basic composition to poetry to Shakespeare and everything in between. Sharing these things is my greatest professional reward.

I teach full-time at a prep boarding school with 100% college acceptance.

I also teach college courses in composition and literature as an adjunct professor.

Frequently asked questions

The following is very flexible and student-driven.

We will meet briefly (in person or via video call), to discuss what the student wants to achieve and make a plan to quickly benchmark his or her level of mastery in the subject.

From there I will draft a plan of action that will get us moving in the right direction almost immediately.

By default, I plan for the student to work independently a majority of the time with regular check-ins with me for guidance and feedback.  This keeps costs low for the student.  I am also available for more one-on-one time as needed.

My Master's degree included practical and theoretical pedagogical study that was focused on teaching students writing composition.

I have extensive research experience in English, American, and World literature.

$30 per half hour, or $50 per hour.

Occasional e-mail or text questions to keep you on track are free.

My first career was teaching military members in a hands-on and/or classroom setting, formally and informally, for more than 30 years, with excellent success.

Primarily teenage and adult students, up to undergraduate students.

One of my students received a major promotion as a result of our training together (but mainly his hard work)!

Interview more than one tutor - a lot of people are qualified, but I recommend looking for the one with the professional attitude that suits your needs best.

Where am I in my mastery of this subject?

Where do I want to be?

How many hours per week can I set aside the time to work toward my goal?
