Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It is my goal to help every student achieve his or her goals in as timely a fashion as possible. To that end, a portion of our first tutoring session is always dedicated to getting to know the student and setting goals. After the goal is set, we work collaboratively to make a plan for achieving said goals. Part of that plan includes creating action items for student and tutor alike to ensure that benchmarks are met along the way and the student is ultimately successful.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked as an educator in the public school setting for the past 13 years. I have taught, counseled, and supervised students in grades PreK through 12 and have worked with adult learners as wise as 80.
I hold a bachelor's degree in English from James Madison University, a master's in counseling from the University of Lynchburg, and a doctorate in leadership studies, also from the University of Lynchburg.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing depends on the type of tutoring a student requires and the length of time we will need to work together. Estimates, however, are always free, so please reach out!
How did you get started teaching?
I was fortunate enough to have teachers who played pivotal roles in my education. I wanted to do the same for the younger generation.
I began teaching right out of undergrad and I have worked in various educational roles continually ever since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. I welcome diversity and love meeting new people.
