I am a current PhD student in statistics with a bachelors in mathematics. I have 5 years of tutoring expierence in mathematics and statistics.
I am passionate about helping students further their understanding in mathematics and statistics!
I strive to see students have a "light bulb moment" where they finally understand a concept they have been working on! This is such an empowering moment for the student while also being a rewarding moment for me.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to begin by creating a relationship with my student, discussing where they are struggling and their goals for tutoring! Then, I try to find how they learn best which allows me to personalize the tutoring session to the student!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 5 years of tutoring experience, tutoring students of all ages, including college age students. I have my bachelors in mathematics and am currently enrolled in the Statistics PhD program at the University of Virginia.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rates are typically the same across all levels of math. Some variation might be from upper level courses that will increase my outside preparation time. This rate includes our one-on-one tutoring session as well as time I spend out of the session preparing answers/alternative approaches to questions we come across! My goal is to personalize my tutoring techniques to each student so they see the best results!
How did you get started teaching?
I began tutoring when I realized I had a different perspective from true teachers. I have recently been in the shoes of my students, working hard outside of class to fully grasp a concept. I strive to make these students fell supported and capable by personalizing my explanations of problems to them!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of students! Anywhere from young students just looking to brush up on their math basics to college Calculus students!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have many fond memories of tutoring sessions, but my favorite moments are when students realize they are capable at learning--and even being good at-- math! I always share one goal with my students, I want them to come out of tutoring with confidence! My students are capable and can tackle any math problem that comes their way with the tools learned in our sessions.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I encourage students to figure out what teaching methods a tutor will use in their sessions! I like to personalize my sessions to each students, emphasizing on how the student learns best.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should consider what their goals for tutoring are! These goals could range from being able to understand what "math tools" a question is asking for you to apply, or even just understanding tools in general! This will help guide each session, allowing the student to get exactly what they need out of tutoring!
