About
I have a passion for education, and I understand the difficulties that students face. However, these difficulties are almost NEVER due to the student's inability to grasp a subject. Instead, they just need to be taught in a way that makes sense to them. This is where I excell!
I strive to make difficult subjects easier by removing the excess and focusing on the core concepts. These are often lost in a classroom setting, especially with the way that math is often taught. Modern approaches often confuse a student and hide the beauty, elegance, and simplicity of the subject. Together, we can identify the sticking points and overcome them by making things SIMPLE. As they should be.
I love to learn, and I love helping others learn! ANYBODY can acheive academic success, sometimes we just need a little help. Education is so important, and I know that a deep understanding of a subject is often at the tips of a student's fingers. Once they reach out and grasp it, the sky is the limit.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I believe that the most important thing to do is to identify a students learning barriers and work to overcome them. Everybody is intelligent, they just need to be taught in a way that makes sense to them.
My strategy is to reduce the fear and anxiety that comes with misunderstanding a subject. You CAN do it. It's easy and I can show you how!
I offer an approach that emphasizes encouragement in a relaxed setting. We all struggle with certain subjects to some degree...as the great Albert Einstein said: “Do not worry about your difficulties in mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater.” But these difficulties can be overcome, and in my experience it is usually a question of confidence and not ability.
With the right direction, students can boost their confidence and unlock their academic potential. Let's get started!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received a bachelor's degree in physics with an emphasis in astrophysics from the University of Utah, as well as a minor in applied mathematics.
I am currently pursuing a PhD in astrophysics. I study ultra-high energy cosmic rays as part of the Telescope Array project, an international collaboration with telescopes located in the west desert of Utah.
I have been tutoring math and teaching guitar for many years, and I have refined my approach to acheive maximum success!
