What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Determine what their subject is and what fundamental principles they are missing in the subject. I provide them with additional exercises to help with their specific problem.
I also help reinforce homework discipline to prevent students from falling behind.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BS in Chemical Engineering (Clemson Univ. 1985) and 35 years military and Department of Energy experience.
MS in Adiminstration (Central Michigan, 1992)
Studied Public Health Tulane, 1984
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$15 per 30 minutes session on-line.
$30/hr plus travel if in home.
How did you get started teaching?
Since retirement I have tutored Math and Chemistry at Temple Junior College, in Temple, Texas. I have also been a sought after substitute Math and Science Teacher at Belton ISD.
What types of students have you worked with?
Middle and High School as well as college students and adults.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Having students contact me with excitement that they made a 100 on tests, which they had not done before.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't be afraid to stop going to someone if you don't get along well with them or if they don't seem to know what they're doing.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should have examples of their homework and assignments that they need help with.
