Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When the family calls us, I personally go to every student's home to understand their specific need. Each child is unique and so it their academic goal. We (the parents, student and me) set up goals for tutoring and then decide how much tutoring per week will be required to achieve that goal. This helps us customize the sessions as per the student's individual need and capacity. This service is called initial consultation, which can be done virtually or in-person and is completely FREE!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Ph.D. in Biology and I'm a scientist by training. Teaching is my passion. I have taught at several organizations including Lone Star College, Cy-Fair. I work as the Director at Club Z! In-Home Tutoring of Cypress and pay particular attention in hiring tutors. Only degreed individuals with relevant teaching experience are interviewed. Once they provide a satisfactory teaching demonstration and background checked, they are hired.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Yes! Our rates vary depending on the grade levels we teach. So, for grades Pre-k to 5th grade we are $45/hr, middle school rates are $50/hr and High school are $55/hr. We have various packages for SAT/ACT tutoring and other test prep services. We are running COVID-19 special rates starting at $35/hr!
How did you get started teaching?
I am extremely passionate about student education and success. I strongly believe that having a solid education always pays off in the long run!
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with students having failing grades to having GT capabilities. We also serve students with learning disabilities such as ADD/ADHD/Dyslexia and Autism.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We were approached by a woman who wanted to pass her nursing exam. She had made 2 attempts already before she contacted us. We only had 2 weeks to get her up to speed. But our qualified tutors worked relentlessly with her and she passed!
We also had an elementary school boy whose parents divorced when he was in 4th grade and the single mom could not do it all. Fortunately, she called us and we started tutoring the boy twice a week. Within 1 month, his school teacher could see the difference in not only his grades but also his behavior!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Personal connection is very important in student's success. We take pride in stating that our tutors go above and beyond to make sure the child succeeds in the academic goals. Price is important but should not be the only determining factor, when looking for a tutor!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I want the students (and their parents) to think what and how they would like the tutors to help them. It is very efficient if that ground work is already done before we step in!
