Chemist & STEM Tutor
About
My background is in chemical research and product development as a cosmetic chemist and a practical business educator, with a blend of both science and business skills.
In the past, I have taught business economics courses at Lone Star College and have mentored as a college success coach at Houston Community College. I also own a small business (CJH BAKE-Lab, www.cjhbakelab.com ), which incorporates teaching enriching programs of business and science to youth using eclectic food and art projects. I am also certified for teaching business and finance content areas to high-schoolers in the state of Texas, and am passionate about teaching budding entrepreneurs at the collegiate level in both undergraduate and MBA programs. In addition, I am studying towards my Ph.D. in Business Marketing, with a focus in consumer behavior.
I enjoy engaging with students in a way that makes tough disciplines of science and math relatable and easy to comprehend.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a former chemist, and I have also worked as a science enrichment provider for local school districts (as a vendor) for 10 years. I have also taught special needs students for 2 years (full-time). I am also working on my PhD in business marketing with a focus in consumer behavior.

I started in 2011 as a science enrichment provider for local school districts, as a business vendor.

I have worked with students from all backgrounds of life and educational levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Evaluate their resume, and ask what they enjoy doing (versus what they have had to do for a living). If they love teaching, you want that person.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Evaluate what you truly need help with, and then request such.
