The Quick Pitch:
My name is Caleb Taylor. I have a degree in physics from UC, Davis. I have taught freshmen math and senior statistics in California and have been a student teacher for a junior/senior physics class in Texas. In addition to teaching in a classroom setting, I have tutored for my students and friends. You would be amazed at how capable you are to overcome academic hurdles when you have someone who believes in you and a little bit of determination. I myself struggled through most of academia and have used my experience to help others go from failing a class to passing, sometimes with an A. I would love to help you jump those hurdles that you keep tripping over. By the way, I encourage your parents/guardians to participate if they're willing. They can often explain something in a way you can better understand. They know you best, they just need to learn the material themselves.

While at UC, Davis, I developed a passion for astronomy and worked as a roof helper for an astronomy lab class. I liked it so much that I spent the last year earning my degree doing research for the UC, Davis School of Education. Since graduating, I have spent about 3 years substitute teaching. In between those years, I was hired as a temporary teacher for a math class. I taught a semester of freshmen math and senior statistics for a teacher out on maternity leave. As chance would have it, that was immediately after schools reopened from the Covid-19 lockdowns. Some of the days were done remotely, and during this time, I developed skills and methods that would help me deliver instruction online. I even held my own office hours for students to seek personal help. Some of my most successful students were failing the class and desperate, but my personal tutoring was successful in turning their grades around. During this time and after, many of my students showed clear burnout and a lack of motivation. This is very understandable, and you may be feeling this way now, but I can help you out of that viscious cycle.
