About

Two of my great passions are writing and helping others. I tutored for the UTSA athletics department where I specialized in English. I also have experience tutoring high school students. In high school, I competed in spelling and vocabulary UIL, winning muptiple awards and qualifying for state competition.

I have a BA in Communication, and I am confident that I can find a way to relate to and effectively tutor a wide variety of students at different skill levels. By communicating effetively, I aim to teach my students to efficiently learn and retain subject matter.

Above any physical qualification, I love to encourage and teach others. I am patient with students and will work hard to ensure my students grow.

In addition to English and communication, I would be an excellent tutor for SAT prep, college essays, speech, nutrition, and k-8 math and sciences.

I enjoy watching another person grow or discover something new. I enjoy interacting and making connections with the people I tutor. I have great memories of meaningful moments with different people I have tutored, and that feels so rewarding to me. I have found that as I tutor something, I improve at it so much and learn new things as well so it serves as a way for me to keep my brain sharp.

Frequently asked questions

First, I like to make sure the student and I are comfortable with  each other. I will ask a few 'get-to-know-you' questions and tell them a little about myself.

Secondly, I want to see what content they are working on so I am prepared to help.

Thirdly, I want to understand where the student may be having trouble, I will encourage them to ask questions and I will ask questions about their comprehension.

Fourthly, I will offer tools and strategies to overcome the problem, or explain why something is the way it is. The goal is not just for us to come to the right conclusion together, but for the student to understand how we got there by thinking critically.

Lastly, we can review anything that needs clarification and when the student is ready, we can tackle the next area that needs tutoring.

I had an internship in college where I went to most public high schools in San Antonio and gave financial aid presentations to High school students. I fell in love with interacting and providing answers and resources for students and their parents. I met a school counselor who was looking for an SAT tutor, and I volunteered.

From there, I began working at the UTSA Athletic dpartment teaching a variety of course work and absolutely loved it. I want to continue using my education to help others.

I've worked with dedicated college students; we brainstormed ideas and had a great time learning andgrowing together. I've worked with not-so-dedicated college students. Many athletes prefer to focus on their sport. Luckily this was a great opportunity for me to learn how to inspire and motivate students, as well as grow in patience and tact.

I have worked with a variety of high school students. Some students challenge me with questions that require me to think and research for the answer, and I've worked with students who were only there because they were required to be.

I haven't tutored young students very much, though I do have experience teaching guitar lessons to young children, which was very rewarding. I think I have a great personality to make learning fun for younger students.
