About

I’m Glen Meyer, Ph.D., a CRLA Level II certified tutor living and working in Austin, Texas. I specialize in three different areas: (1) mathematics and related fields such as statistics, classical physics, and symbolic logic; (2) philosophy; and (3) composition. My passion is supporting students as they strive to reach educational goals. As a private tutor, I have assisted students in improving SAT scores, edited essays that earn As, guided students through difficult, confusing homework assignments, and otherwise helped them improve their grades. My students range from seventh grade through graduate school. As a former college professor, I understand what teachers and professors want from students.

I enjoy helping people. Whether you are struggling with a single math assignment, an entire course, or with something more serious like math anxiety, I am here to help. With more than 12 years of teaching and tutoring experience, I understand what teachers and professors demand from students, and I understand the frustrations students encounter when trying to meet these demands. I can help with a single problem, or go so far as to help you improve your study skills and overcome math anxiety to become an independent learner.

We were very happy with Glen as a math tutor. He was always prepared for class. He helped my son with high level math. He always provided us feedback and let us know the progress. His depth and breath of math was very evident from the fact that he was able to teach from 7th grade to all the way to 12th grade math.

Mr. Glen is a very knowledgeable and thorough teacher. He grades homework promptly and provides proper feedback and comes up with good lesson plans in areas of deficiency. He explains the steps very methodically, and is very prompt in responding to questions between sessions.

Mr. Glen was a very patient teacher. He always tried to make sure I understood the concept by approaching the subject in different ways.
He was also a big help in preparing for the math portion of the SAT. He would suggest quicker ways to solve the problem. His deep knowledge of math inspired confidence in me. With his help, I was able to score above the 95th%. He would make me do multiple problems on topics I had trouble with, to help me understand the topic.

I highly recommend Glen Meyer as a tutor due to the fact that Mr. Meyer has all of the qualities that make him an excellent tutor to work with. He is thorough, methodical, and has a great handle on even the most complicated of subjects. Even though there are concepts that take longer to master than others, there is no compromise on Mr. Meyers part regarding the quality of learning, leading to a deeper understanding. It is this in-depth understanding that has solidified my understanding of the fundamentals, and ensures readiness for more complicated courses in the future. This is my second semester working with him, and I look forward to completing my college-level engineering courses (including vector calculus and calculus-based engineering and mechanics) with Mr. Glen as my tutor.
