Big-Sis Tutoring
About
I am a current college student with 3+ years of tutoring experience (especially tutoring my younger siblings). I earned my Associates Degree and am now working towards a Bachelors Degree. Currently, I am tutoring K-12 on the current subjects: Elementary Math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. I get to know each of my students goals beforehand in order to formulate a custom plan for each student so that they may achieve their goals.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process for working with a new student is first getting to know them better and the concepts they are currently struggling with in school. Most students provide me with their lesson plan and practice questions they have done at school at the start of the session, so that I may better understand what they are currently learning at school & what specific concepts the student needs help with.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
At the moment, I have a free trial session for the first day, so the student can get to know me and I can get to know the student. This will also allow the student to then make the decision whether they would like to continue with our session. Pricing varies.
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching at a very young age actually. I used to teach my younger siblings for fun when I was only thirteen years old! It started growing on me and now I help my younger siblings with their math homework. I have also taught at an elementary school on my way to earning a teaching certificate.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I like to see what areas my student is struggling with, and based off of that we can start off our lesson. My student should feel comvoftable with asking whatever questions they have on the subject matter and let me know whatever concepts they are struggling with.
If my student is able to provide more detailed information about what they are learning in school with questions from their textbook & the lesson that they are currently learning at school, this will help me better explain the concept to the student in terms that they will understand (based off of worksheets & practice questions the student is given at school).
