After 30 years in media production, I changed careers and became a classroom teacher through an alternative certification program in Texas. I hold these certifications currently: Generalist 4-8, Social Studies 8-12, Journalism 7-12, and ESL Supplemental 4-12. I recently retired from the classroom, but want to continue my ties to education. The bulk of my classroom experience is with students that have learning differences such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and executive functioning difficulties. I have specialized in working with students on an individual basis and delivering instructions based on their learning styles.

I have been teaching special education for over 15 years. I have experience working with all grade levels with students with a variety of learning disabilities.

I am a Certified Public Accountant 73 years old. I homeschooled my grand daughter during covid. Taught math and reading during my time with her. I'm good at teaching elementary math. I like to read out loud and am capable of teaching elementary reading. Currently I work in public accounting for small business. I have passed the background check for Dallas ISD and have volunteered for Reading Partners organization.

I have a degree in Theatre and World Communication and always had a passion for teaching and the written word. I have traveled the world learning about other cultures and cultivating new wisdom and knowledge that allows me to work with all kinds of people from all kinds of backgrounds. I am a teacher with more than a decade in the classroom and more than 15 years as a private tutor. In 2020, I formally launched Hensen tutoring and offered test-prep tutoring (SAT, ACT, ASVAB) and tutoring in social studies and English. In 2024, I expanded my services to include tutoring for AP Human Geography, AP US History, and AP US Government and Politics. My students average AP score is a 4.44.
