Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When I first meet with a student, I like to get to know their math history. I ask questions about previous math courses, how they feel about math and if they are getting stuck on general ideas or specifics processes in their current work. Many times, we start with either a homework assignment or a quiz/test that was previously taken to do corrections on. I start with something where I can see the student's thought process to identify where he/she is struggling so that I know what to focus on and how to go about it. I will reteach what the student needs to learn and then do some more practice problems.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated Ursinus College with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. I became a certified math teacher after moving to Texas. I have taught high school math in the Austin area for the past 7 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all abilities. I have taught classes of on level students, struggling students as well as Pre AP students.
