About
I enjoy teaching and seeing the students I tutor become successful or catch up with their peers. I’m certified in special education and use techniques, modification and manipulatives to personalize the tutoring for your student.
I have not taught in a classroom for 19 years, I have taken the time off to raise my children. I just can’t stay away from teaching I have continued to be a part of education through volunteering in the classrooms and libraries, substituting and tutoring. I have a love for being around students teaching them and celebrate when they master a concept they have been struggling with.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I interview and test a new student to find their strengths and weaknesses. I discuss their goals and what they expect to get out of being tutored. I tailor a personal plan to accomplish and meet their expectations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a licensed teacher in the state of Texas. I graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in elementary education (1st-8th) and special education (pre-K-12th). I have taught in an emotionally disturbed classroom where I served students grades kindergarten through 5th grade in a self contained classroom. I taught 5th grade math, science and social studies. I also taught 7th grade math.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
How did you get started teaching?
i love working with children an enjoy celebrating their success with them. I encourage students to learn a skill but do not show any disappointments when they don’t get it. I have many techniques to teach the same concept and can change my presentation of the concept quickly. If I see them get frustrated or just not understanding the concept another way may be a better choice to help them understand. My belief is not every child learns in the same way and not every child learns on the same day.
I was also bullied in school growing up and always had a bully free zone in my classroom. I feel a child that is bullying another student causes that student to be able to learn to their full potential. The bully has no right to keep another student from learning and I never tolerated bullying.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with emotionally disturbed special education students. I have also always taught in an inclusion classroom, 5th grade and 7th grade.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I tutored a student in math that had failed the 2nd and 3rd nine weeks in 3rd grade math. The students mother shared the 4th grade nine weeks grade with me with the request of her student, who earned an A for the 4th nine weeks. I believe the student also developed pride and confidence that she can be successful.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Like I said before I am able to switch teaching styles to help the student gain understanding. I am positive and love to celebrate with the student with their successes.
