What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I get to know my student, their weaknesses and strenghths and then I talk to both student and parent about short and long term goals. I try to make every educational experience ( even the challenging ones) a positive one so my students don't get frustrated and begin to give up.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my Bachelors Degree from the U of H Clear lake in Abnormal Psycology with a minor in History and Political Science. I taught Resource for 1st to 3rd grade students at CJ Harris Elementary in Pearland Isd for 4 years before moving to Alvin ISD to work in conjuction with Autism Speaks on a Behavior Modification program to bring awareness to learning styles so the educational experience for autistic students would be enhanced.

My typical price is 25-30$ an hour
How did you get started teaching?
I've loved teaching since I was a child. I began by teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School with my Mom when i was about 13 and my passion continued through High School workin as a tutor through the Community and Schools program and the PALS program.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with students from a variety of backgrounds and learning challenes both regular and special ed in grades randing from 1st to 8th. Most of my experience as been at the Elementary level.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would tell them to find someone focused on their needs and to make sure they new what goals they want to acheive and really take part in the experience of planning the work to be done.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They should think about what they struggle with specifically and what they would like to get out of the tutoring process.
