I have worked with a few math tutors over the last few years, but Ive been working with Ron for the last two years and hes great! He is flexible about hours and can work around my schedule. And most importantly, he really helps me understand the concept we are covering. I cant imagine using anyone else.

Frequently asked questions

The first thing I do is ask what they are struggling with or what they think they need to improve on. Then, I will ask for examples of the kinds of problems they are given by their teacher. After this, we usually will go over problems from the class. This is usually enough, but if it is not, I can prepare problems similar to the ones they are working on for supplementary practice.

I have an Associate of Science in Mathematics from San Jacinto College and I am currently enrolled at Lamar University pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I have 5 years of experience teaching through Civil Air Patrol and I have been tutoring for 7 years.

My pricing is based on many things, but it is decided on an individual basis. Some factors that I consider are the rigor of the material we cover, the distance I travel (if in person), and how often I tutor the student.

For about 5 years, I was in the Civil Air Patrol (the auxiliary of the Air Force) and I taught many classes at our weekend activities.

Throughout high school and college, I have helped many people with math and physics. I helped many of these people in College Algebra and Pre-Calculus; every Friday my professor would let me run most of the tutorials with very little intervention.

Now I have a number of loyal clients spanning multiple subjects.

I have worked with many different types of students. I have worked with students that were very gifted and just wanted to brush up and I have worked with students that needed a bit of guidance.

Two pieces of advice come to mind:

The first is to make sure that the teacher is very comfortable with the material you need help with. This can be done by seeing what level of education they have and how much experience they have.

The second is to make sure that the teacher is not just going to do the work for you. While it may sound nice to not have to do any work, it will come back to bite you. Every math class lays the foundation for the next, and if your foundation is weak, you will have to work a lot harder.
