Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want to be as much benefit to the student as I can. I like for the student to tell me what area they need immediate help with. After working on that area I will discuss what skills need to be developed so that the student will improve and build those skills that will enable them to be self sufficient.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from OLLU University with a BA Degree in Management.
I have completed Masters level courses in History at UTSA.
I am a trained member of the AWAI, American Writer's and Artist's, Institute.
I have taught 3rd grade to 12th grade as a Substitute Teacher, subjects I taught included History, Social Studies, English, Writing, Reading, and Science as assigned at various Elementary, Middle, and High Schools within the District.
I taught in the Alternative School Environment and was responsible for approximately thirty students from seventh grade to twelveth grade, and was responsible for all subjects.

25.00 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I started out Substitute Teaching at Seguin High School, which is located in South Texas.
I enjoyed it very much. I am currently pursuing my Teacher's Certification in ELAR.
What types of students have you worked with?
I enjoy working within the Alternative School setting.
Some students had disciplinary problems, and some had behavorial issues, and a troubled home life.
I found that treating them with respect and dignity resulted in the students returning those same qualities to me. As a result, some students achieved academic standards of excellence that they hadn't believed they were capable of prior to my method of instruction.
I am able to give one on one attention, and teach a variety of Subject matter.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone that will take you where you are in your Educational journey. No one should make you feel like you're way behind, or put undue expectations on you about your grade level. We're all different in how we learn, books have been written about that. Look for someone that will take what you know from scratch, and build on it!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
