I use personalized instructions to explain a worked out example step by step and let the students question me about all their doubts they may have. After going through it, I ask them to recall how to do the same problem. I give them a guided practice to ensure they have understood it the right way.
I let them do independent practice only after they are comfortable doing the guided practice.
I enjoy the questions the students have about each concept and specific problems. I enjoy the fact that they get better at a skill after receiving my tutoring.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually go by what topics have been taught so far and what is currently being taught at school. I give a worksheet with problems involving the topics that are covered and that is being taught. I see how fast and accurate the student fares in it. I decide the learning path based on where the mistakes happen and where it takes longer to get correct answers.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a B.Sc with a minor in Math. I also have an MBA in Systems. I have tutored Elementary school kids at Sylvan, Huntington Learning Center.
