About

I am a biomedical engineer student, with a passion and love for math. Math is a puzzle. Like many puzzles, there is a logical and hidden pattern, that once unlocked can be excitingly solvable! I will help you unlock the pattern, and soon you will be a believer in "math is fun!" I have had 20 years of experience tutoring math to family members, friends, classmates, and colleagues. I have volunteered at my university's tutoring center for over 3 years. I am happy to help anyone from adorable children as young as 4 years old, to dedicated adults getting through college courses.

I don't just want to teach math but I want to share my love for it and pass on the excitment of solving it. In my experience, I have learned that most people that struggle and "hate" math is due to a lack of successful teaching methods that started at a very young age. My passion for tutoring came when I noticed that those same people leave my sessions liking math just a little bit more, simply because they UNDERSTOOD it. Math is a puzzle. Once you figure out the pattern, the puzzle is easy to solve. The love for puzzles, and the love for math comes with the accomplishment of solving it. People get a rush of adrenaline when they successfully solve a question on their own. Yes, math at times can be a little frustrating, but once it is broken down to grit, it can be rebuilt into a way that every one can understand it. I am here to help break it down and rebuild it to each individual's process of learning.

Frequently asked questions

My process for working with a new student starts with getting acquainted with the course work they are currently working on. Next, I will get a grasp of how the student comprehends the course work. Each person learns differently; and there are many methods I use in my teaching for their specific way of learning. I will implement my teaching and tutoring to how the student has most success in digesting and fully understanding the information. Then, I use the Socratic method of teaching by having the student explain their thought process when breaking down the information I have taught, and have them personally go through the problems on their own with my guidance towards the correct answers. I have seen this style of teaching to be the most successful with, not only getting good grades, but also completely understanding the topic and knowing how to implement it in future mathematical courses.

I have always had a passion and love for math. I competed in many mathematical and academic competitions as a child, up to my college education. I took advance mathematical and science courses at a younger age that has allowed me to fully advance into very strenuous and incredibly difficult mathematics. I am currently a student with my track into becoming a biomedical engineer with a second major for mathematics. I have completed mathematical courses up to differential equations with a 4.0. I have had much experience teaching and tutoring mathematics to all ages. I started with tutoring my younger siblings their entire lives, to helping my classmates at every level of my life, to tutoring colleagues at my job with their college courses, to volunteering at my university's tutoring center helping thousands of students.
