As a certified classroom teacher, I am fully invested in helping students reach their full potential and getting them to produce favorable results. My goal is not only to help students get great grades, but also to inspire them to see the value in their work.
I currently teach English as a second language and work as a math and English Test Prep tutor. I have been tutoring students for three years in Houston. I work with a variety of test materials such as the SAT, ACT, GMAT, GED and PSAT. I also work with Kindergarten through 12th grade students in math, reading and writing.
I really enjoy helping students reach their full potential and encouraging them to persevere even beyond their own expectations.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If I'm working with a long term student who needs help in a certain subject, the first meeting will always start with a diagnostic test. The diagnostic test will consist of material from the grade level before, current grade level, and the grade level after. The purpose of a test like this is to see where the student's strengths and weaknesses lie. For students who are short term (meaning needing tutoring for a month or less), a diagnostic test is not required
If I am working with a test prep student, I usually have the student take a practice test to assess their skill level and identify problem areas. Later, I can review missed problems and develop an action plan to increase scores and work on problem areas.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an ESL teaching certification and five years of experience tutoring math and ELA, as well as three years of test prep experience with SAT, ACT, and GED.
In addition, I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Houston.

How did you get started teaching?
I started working in education as a middle school math tutor with the Houston Independent School District in 2015 and later got my certification to teach English as a second language.
