About

Hi there! I am a former teacher with over 5 years of experience tutoring and teaching. I have both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mathematics.

I am committed to helping you find the way you learn best. Math is different from science, social studies, and english, so oftentimes using the same strategies to learn these subjects doesn't help us in math. I have worked with students of varying learning styles and will work with you to find the techniques that help you learn and study math best.

What can you expect in a tutoring session with me?

~A teaching/tutoring approach tailored to your specific needs.

~Assistance on past and present math skills that are preventing you from being as successful as possible.

~Access to my personal teaching resources: reviews, extra practice problems, etc. (If I don't have something you need, I can make it.)

My favorite moment is seeing you get excited about math! You may think that is not possible, but when something you have been struggling with finally clicks for you, you will get excited. You will have conquered a math concept that previously left you confused. While your excitement is my favorite moment, my favorite thing about my job is seeing you achieve your goals! I love hearing about and seeing your success!

Incredibly knowledgeable and patient. Went above and beyond to help me understand the content. My algebra grade as well as my confidence in the material improved significantly after my sessions with her.

She seems to connect with Gage very easily and has provided him with the necessary tools to be much more confident with Geometry. She has also been very flexible with timing, which has been great.

    Frequently asked questions

Our first tutoring session, we will spend a little time getting to know each other. I will learn about your goals, struggles, and current learning/study strategies. We will create a plan for our future tutoring sessions and determine what materials we will use to drive our sessions (your assignments, your textbook, your notes, my materials, etc.). After we have a plan in place, we will get right to it!

I have my bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics and have over 5 years of teaching/tutoring experience.

Growing up, I dreamt of becoming a pediatrician, but I had a fabulous 3rd grade teacher and from that year on, I wanted to become a teacher! Math has always been a subject I enjoy because I see all the math problems as little puzzles. It is so gratifying when you solve them! My third grade teacher may have been my inspiration, but my mother was a math teacher and taught me the best strategies to help students learn.

I have worked with Gifted & Talented students, At-Risk students and all types of students in between. I have taught students of varying learning styles, interests, and grade levels (middle & high school).

You want the teacher to help you figure out the way you learn best. This will help you for all your future math classes!

You also want the teacher to guide you to answers rather than give you answers. If your teacher only gives you the steps and answers, it will be very hard for you complete assignments and tests on your own (especially after a week or two).

    What is/are your goal(s)?

How are you currently learning math? (ie. taking notes, watching videos, reading the textbook, looking through powerpoints, etc.)

How are you currently studying for your math tests?

What concepts have caused and/or are causing you trouble?

Is this the first math class where you felt you weren't understanding everything? If no, in what other class(es) did you feel this way?

How often are you wanting to meet and for what time length?
