Frequently asked questions

I like to talk to a student and ask them to explain to me what they are struggling with in their class or with math in general.  I use that information to give them a few problems to see how they are thinking through problems.  I use this data to pinpoint the areas that I need to work on with the student and also let the student ask me any questions about what is happening in their current classroom that is confusing them so that we can make sure to get clarification for them.

I have been a math classroom teacher for over 12 years and then I moved into the coaching role.  I have studied all grade levels and what the progression of math looks like from grade level to grade level.  I help teachers read data set up small groups and do intervention.  I also did this as a teacher in my own classroom.

I usually charge between 40-60 dollars a lesson depending on the grade level and the distance I have to travel to neet with a student

I always had a passion for teaching but started working in the medical field as a Respiratory Therapist but even in that job I gravitated to rehab and teaching my patients how to take care of themselves.  My family moved to an area where I could get my teaching certification and I have not looked back!

I have worked will all types of students. I have taught the Pre AP class and some of the regular classes in every place that I have taught.

A student should think about the specific things that they need help with.  Do not be to general with your teacher when you are asking for help. Advocate for yourself.  Talk about how on this problem every time I get to this part I get stuck or I always make this mistake, can you help me understand it better.  Maybe the student could even ask the teacher to use a visual representation to help with the understanding of the concept.
