Rohun's Math Tutoring
About
I am patient and focused on the long-term success of students. Achieving the bare minimum to finish the day's homework or do well on one test will not serve students as they progress through increasingly difficult math classes. That's why I try to fill in learning gaps in order to address the current needs of students.
Difficult things often make us nervous, stressed, angry, and dismayed. I enjoy turning all these negative emotions into positive ones by making it easier for students to learn math.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I determine their level of knowledge of the topic. This typically includes asking them to solve some problems independently. Then, I compare that to the level necessary to complete their assignments/homework. If their knowledge level is below the level needed, then we work to fill in the learning gaps before beginning the assignment. If their knowledge level is at or above the level needed, then I let them work independently while asking questions to challenge them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am trained in the Mathnasium Method, a teaching philosophy that emphasizes building upon preexisting knowledge. I utilized this method during my 2 years at Mathnasium. There, I taught students aged 5 to 17 concepts ranging from basic arithmetic to advanced trigonometry, and everything in between. I was able to improve 90 percent of students' grades and 93 percent of students' attitudes towards math.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students as young as 4 on basic counting, and I have tutored pupils as old as 17 in trigonometry. Additionally, I have experience working with students who require extra attention, such as those with ADHD, dyslexia, and other atypical neurological profiles.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
