Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to understand what the student is struggling with and then focus on that concept until it is mastered. I have found that most issues come from poor instruction or over complication of a simple concept. I evaluate how well the student understands the fundamentals relavant to a principle and make sure that they have them mastered. We will then move on to the mechanics and processed of solving problems and I make sure to explain them in a simple and understandable way. After that, repetition of the correct method is essential for mastery.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies from Texas Wesleyan University and I am currently pursuing a degree in mechanincal engineering at TCU. I have tutored students throughout my entire high school and college career and have succesfully helped students improve their test grades from "D's" and "C's" to "A's" and "B's".
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide range of students from middle school to college instructing students who struggle in math as well as those who are rather competent and simply needed a push in the right direction.
