About

Hello, I'm Gabriela, I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2017 with a Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Minor in Math. I am extremely passionate about the material I tutor--specifically chemistry--and I love interacting with students that have a desire to learn. I noticed over the years of learning that the classes that stuck to me the most were the classes where I had exceptional teachers and professors. These educators knew how to simplify complex information and aptly checked on their students to ensure they've processed the material. My tutoring approach is greatly modeled by the way I was taught and I implement it in order to simplify complicated material to students one-on-one. I begin with an easy introduction to the specific subject and make sure to explain how the material connects throughout the course. Before completing a lesson, I always ask if there is anything that needs clarification as well as recommend what to look further into.

I love teaching chemistry and physics the most to students, my first instances of tutoring were of me teaching my younger siblings these very subjects in 2016. Since 2020, I have worked with multiple students over the last 3 years with independent tutoring services. The majority of students I worked with started off feeling very uneasy in their chemistry/physics courses and by the end of the semester were acing their exams and enjoying the material overall. I have also tutored in AP testing for both physics and chemistry.

I have 3 years of experience tutoring geometry, algebra 1 and 2, precalculus, and calculus 1. I worked with students one-on-one ranging from the ages of 14 to 20+ that seek extra help throughout their class or have trouble learning in a crowded teaching environment. I am very easy-going and patient with students since I want them to feel safe to directly express where they may struggle.

She is very patient and willing to give the extra hand, also very insisting you know the material with implications of help if needed.

Frequently asked questions

when I begin with a new student, I allow them to let me know where they stand in the class and their level of understanding of the subject. I practice patience with all students so they feel comfortable to express themselves while learning new material.

Although I majored in chemical engineering, the chemistry and math that goes along with the material I learned stuck to me the most, so I find so much pleasure in teaching what I am most passionate about.

My pricing begins at $45 per hour and will vary on specific subjects or particular test preparations.

I began teaching as early as high school, helping my peers in the subjects I was learning alongside with them. I would help my friends when they struggled with understanding concepts from geometry, algebra, pre-calculus, chemistry, and physics. My younger siblings helped me build my skills me the most since I became their chemistry and physics tutors through high school and college.

I have worked with many students, ranging in ages as young as 14 all the way up to adult learners.

My most recent event that I am very fond of is helping a student prepare for her AP physics exam throughout the school year for about six months. Despite her concerns and testing anxiety, she exceeded her expectations and received a 4 out of 5 on her exam.

the advice I would give to a student: be more patient with yourself, take your time to read through questions and never feel ashamed to ask for help!
