About

About Me:

I remember not enjoying math very much through most of high school. I was always good at it, but I didn't have any passion for it, and I never understood the bigger picture or purpose of what I was learning. When I hit Calculus, though, everything came together! I could finally see why I had been learning about all of these seemingly random math topics my whole life and where they truly fit together in the real world.

As a teacher and tutor, I strive to instill that understanding and passion in my students from a young age. If the bigger picture is clearly understood, the nitty gritty details don't seem so difficult.

I believe my enthusiasm, knowledge, and lifelong math experience allow me to both relate to a wide variety of students as well as teach math effectively.

Frequently asked questions

Whether it's online or in-person, I prefer a first meeting to include both the student and a guardian. I like to discuss the goals of the student from both perspectives as well as get to know each other a bit. Then, when we hop into math, I like to ask a lot of questions of the student, to see where they feel comfortable and confident, and where they need more guidance. All of this will help me get a feel for the student's learning style, which will then shape my teaching style.

I first began teaching as a TA in undergrad. After graduating from college and beginning my job with the DoD, I found that I really missed teaching so I began working for Charm City Tutors as a private tutor. From there, I realized that teaching was my true passion so I left my DoD job for my current job at CTY and never looked back!

I have worked with students as young as 7 years old, all the way up through undergraduate students.
Additionally, I have worked with students from all over the world in my online and in-person teaching.
