What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In the first session, I focus on understanding the student’s goals, current coursework, and timeline. I then assess their current level using recent assignments or targeted diagnostic problems. Based on that, I outline a clear plan so the student and parent know what we’re working toward and how we’ll measure progress. From there, sessions are structured and goal-oriented, with adjustments as needed.

My standard rate for math tutoring is $50–$60 per hour, depending on subject and preparation required. SAT Math preparation is offered at a higher rate due to the structured nature of test prep and additional planning involved. I typically work with students who are looking for consistent, ongoing sessions.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching through formal classroom instruction and academic tutoring and discovered that I enjoyed helping students make sense of challenging material. After teaching high school mathematics and receiving strong feedback from students, I decided to continue tutoring as a way to work more closely with students and support long-term academic growth.
What types of students have you worked with?
I primarily work with high school and college students, including those preparing for advanced math courses and standardized tests. Most of my students are looking to strengthen their understanding, improve performance, or prepare for upcoming exams through consistent tutoring.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A recent highlight was helping a student move from struggling with core algebra concepts to confidently handling Pre-Calculus material. Seeing that shift in confidence and independence is one of the most rewarding parts of tutoring.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a tutor who focuses on understanding and long-term progress rather than just completing assignments. Consistency and clear communication are key, especially in math, where concepts build on each other over time.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
It helps to think about your goals, timeline, and how often you can meet consistently. Having clarity on what you want to improve makes it easier to build an effective plan and see real progress.
