About
I am flexible in how I teach. I don't just teach one way, every single time. It is specific to the student. Not everyone learns best the same way.
I also try to make learning fun. Kids have an innate curiosity. If it's not there for a particular subject, something went wrong with the way they were taught that subject. I try to bring their curiosity back.
I love when students finally get a concept they've been struggling with and are able to figure out how they learn best.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My typical process is to find out what the student's interests are and then adjust my teaching to their interests. I like to use real-word examples of what they are learning. I try to put them at ease about moments where they make a mistake and get them to laugh those off and do better next time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BBA in General Management with a minor in Professional Writing. I'm a graduate student and am working on my Master's degree in Technical Communication. I have completed all courses for the program, except for the thesis and internship.
How did you get started teaching?
After I completed my bachelor's degree, I began working as a substitute teacher with the El Paso Independent School District.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise a student to find a teacher who is flexible in their learning styles. We've all the experience of a teacher who only teaches through memorization. We've also probably had the experience of a teacher that tries to engage students with visuals. You need to find someone who will use the style that helps you learn the best. That style can differ by course and assignment.
