Andrew's Math Tutoring
About
I have a passion for mathematics and teaching mathmatics to kids, teens and adults. I have been tutoring mathematics from elementary mathematics to calculus 3 in college. I am a Mechanical Engineer out of the University of Texas at El paso and I assure you that any and every job I am hired on will be satisfied and more knowledgeable.
Math is all around us. It surrounds us in ways you could not imagine! As a Mechanical Engineer my job is to analyze the numbers around me to ensure safety and reliability in new creations. Teaching students that math is not a scary thing but instead just patterns is what drives me to tutor. If I can boost someones confidence and make them say "oh wow that's easy!", then I've done my job.

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Mechanical Engineer. What Mechanical Engineer is an engineering discipline that combines engineering physics and mathematics principles with materials science to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. What this means is I love numbers! Numbers and math make up 95% of what I do as an engineer!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Because I am new to tutors.com, I intend on having affordable pricing options with intentions of building a clientele and positive reviews! So for the time being, I will be charging 17-22$ for an hour session depending on the difficulty of the subject and amount of lesson planning needed.
How did you get started teaching?
I began tutoring in highschool to a group of middle school students. I soon realized that my teaching methods were not only working for my students, but they were learning more with me than in the classroom! I soon started privately tutoring in 2017 and have loved every minute of it!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have tutored elementary mathematics, algebra, pre-cal, calculus 1 2 and 3 as well as linear algebra. I have experience with several types of learners and can easily adjust my lesson plans based off of a preferred learning style. My job is to adapt to the needs of my students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Engineers have an overall idea of mathematics as well as what its application is. Many students believe that math is not useful and not important, but what they fail to realize is that math is needed to create! As an engineer and tutor, I will supply every student not only the information to succeed, but why its important!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students must have somewhat of an idea of what difficulties their facing. That makes my life and their life easier! By giving a teacher a subject of difficulty, it allows them to come up with a unique gameplan to attack the problem and fix it!
