English/Reading/Math/Science Tutor
About
I am very passionate about helping kids learn because I know what it is like to be overwhelmingly frustrated when you can’t pick up on something! I have my Bachelors in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of North Texas. I have experience as a tutor through a company named Tutor Doctor and was very successful with my students. I have helped students with ADHD, Dyslexia, and who are homeschooled in online learning programs. My favorite part of tutoring young minds is seeing them absolutely light up when they finally understand something they have been struggling with. It would be an honor to tutor your student!
I enjoy helping others and I enjoy watching them grow in their learning. I love the connection the forms between student and tutor that is very unique. As time goes on, there is a bond that forms out of trust and patience that really fosters the learning process. The one-on-one aspect of tutoring gives the student the attention they need to really feel supported in trying to learn something. Their school teachers are trying to teach up to sometimes 30 students at once. I love being the tutor that swoops in to solidify the material for my students in a way that is tailored to them individually.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initially I like to just talk with them to get a feel for where they are at, learning wise, and try to get a grasp on their learning style by having them do some warm up exercises. From there, we work together on some homework and I also like to bring along some relevant material for them to practice with. Depending on their needs, we may wrap up a session with some repetition drills. For example, if the student struggles with their multiplication tables, we would drill them in the last 10 minutes or so. Also depending on their needs, I may also leave some minor homework of my own to help keep what we did together fresh in their mind to solidify the information for next time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was a tutor through Tutor Doctor where I worked with various kids, most of them in middle school. I loved working with that company, but unfortunately our branch closed down. I also have a Bachelors degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of North Texas. Helping people is my passion, and I love helping young bright minds succeed in school.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
At Tutor Doctor the price was $22 an hour. However, I understand that not everyone can afford that so I am willing to work on a price that works for you!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who have ADHD, Dyslexia and students who are homeschooled via online programs. I am a firm believer in accommodation, so we will figure what works best together.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Not everyone clicks, so if your student just doesn’t seem to be connecting with their tutor, then it’s okay to try someone else! Not every tutor is going to be the best fit for your students learning style and you can’t force it. It would be of the students best interest to find the person who they connect with!
