About
I have an MA in TESOL, a TESOL Teaching Certificate and over twenty years of experience teaching in public schools, community colleges, and adult literacy classrooms. I believe in empowerment through language teaching, especially if the beneficiary is a second language learner. My passion for teaching has taken me to Kazakhstan, where I was nominated an English Language Fellow by the US State Department for 2019-2020. My other areas of expertise are test preparation, Reading comprehension, phonics, creative writing, and Academic writing. I take pride in customizing my lessons to address the needs of each learner to facilitate a successful learning experience. My greatest reward comes from the success of my student and the human connection I form with them.
The human connections I form with my students. When I teach, I am also learning so much from them every day about how to reflect upon and improve my teaching. Every day is full of possibilities about what we can achieve together.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I get to know the student's background, likes and dislikes. Then, I ask about the student's learning goals and do an initial assessment of the student's strengths and areas of need. Based on that assessment, I make a customized tutoring plan to address the specific needs of the student and explain the plan in detail before I start implementing the plan.
