Club-Z Tutor
About
I have been tutoring on a regular basis one-on-one with students in their own homes with adult present. Many of my students have raised not only their grades but their overall understanding of the tutored subjects. I also emphasize study skills and test taking skills, including practice tests. I love watching my students "light up" when they reach understanding...and yes, they also start enjoying the subject material!
i have been tutoring since October 2019 through Club-Z and I have a cleared background check. I'm in high demand, but my passion for tutoring means I'm always trying to schedule students who need the extra help, whether it's short or long-term. I'm committed to working with the student and can also meet with the teacher to help align methods being taught in class.
I love when students suddenly "get it" or get involved in the subject to the point they start enjoying it, as well as the good grades!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I prefer to meet with the teacher and parent to get past performance and also upcoming topics to be covered in class. I can also accomplish this task via email if it is approved and accepted by the school. A brief introductory meeting with parents and student is also highly productive to get a strategy in place.
After each session, I discuss with the parent the content of the session, observations, and suggestions for improved classroom performance and homework completion. Any student/parent concerns are addressed and a game plan for any upcoming quizzes and tests are implemented.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors of Business Administration, but my passion has always been teaching. I have multiple instructor certifications in a wide range of disciplines, including sailing, first aid, lifeguarding, swim lessons to name a few. In the time that I've been tutoring math, English/reading, Spanish and chemistry, I've come to love helping students reach their potential in school and easing parent and student concerns over grades and performance.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $40/hr. I recommend elementary students meet for an hour twice a week and intermediate and above meet for an hour and a half once or twice a week.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ranging from first grade to college level.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I'm here to help advance students into better understanding. Be willing to work with me and put in some effort and together we can get better grades and relieve stress and even have a little fun!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students need to be willing to seek out the teacher for additional practice work to use during sessions. Any old tests, quizzes and homework are extremely helpful tools as well. Any upcoming lecture topics, future test/quiz dates and other class materials are important too.
