I am a certified teacher who taught her own children all subjects from K-12th grade for the last 18 years. Everybody survived. We worked around some learning difficulties, and I believe everyone can improve with a little help. I actually enjoy English, writing, math, AND science.
I enjoy the challenge of helping students where they are and getting them to where they want to be. Sometimes the answer is simple and straightforward, but sometimes it is not what it seems. I love the light-bulb moments and the celebration of doing hard things because sometimes life is just hard, and we all need a little help now and then.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I really like understanding what is getting in the way of the student learning. This includes finding out what they have tried in the past and how well it worked or didn't work for them to help identify obstacles and remove as many as possible and prevent them from spending more time doing something that does not get results.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified to teach journalism, life/earth science, and agriculture. I also homeschooled my four children from Kindergarten through graduation in all subjects and all grades.
