K.S. Dragonfly Tutoring
About
Teaching has always been a passion that I hold deep in my heart. I love helping students achieve their goals of attaining knowledge in a variety of subjects. At 16, I began working in after-school care. There I was able to mentor and tutor students from kindergarten to fifth grade. I designed and implemented several program activities and learning goals. I worked as a site director for Champions Afterschool Care for three years.
In high school and college, I worked and volunteered with several community programs. United Way, Mental Health and Mental Retardation of Brazos Valley, and the Boys and Girls Club were a few of my favorite opportunities. After graduation, I attended Texas A&M University and Blinn College. At Blinn, I earned a certificate in early childhood education; and at TAMU, I earned a bachelor's of arts degree in psychology.
Following graduation from college, I began to work in the same school district I was raised. I started as a substitute teacher, then began working as a teacher's aide. While working as an aid, I attended Western Governor's University to earn my degree in K-8 education. During that time, I taught summer school for K-5th graders.
Currently, I am making the decision to attend a doctorate program. I would like to use my free time to assist students that need a little help to be successful.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I get to know the student. I ask questions such as their name, where they live, hobbies, and goals. Then, I ask them what classes they feel successful and which classes they are having difficulties. Next, I ask them their strengths and weaknesses. Finally, I help them plan out what they want to accomplish and how they feel they will best learn.

I have a certificate in early childhood education, a B.A. in psychology, and a Master's in K-8 education. I have also attained the 120 hour TESOL certification.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching and tutoring over 15 years ago when I accepted a job with a local afterschool care program.
