About
I am an English professor with strong skills in grammar, vocabulary, revising and editing, and literary analysis. I have been teaching at the college level for 15 years, and am the recipient of two teaching awards and four teaching excellence nominations for the past four years in a row. If you're looking for someone who can walk you through the writing process, while also engaging in constructive dialogue, then give me a holler. I cannot imagine a better career than what I do now!
I absolutely love it when students begin to grasp new concepts. All learning is essentially incremental, and it can sometimes seem like forever before these concepts and ways of thinking become solid and habitual. But that's what I'm here for: to help guide you down the path to full comprehension. Besides, I like to learn new stuff too.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting to know a new student is crucial for the kind of rapport needed in a new, and often intimidating, learning environment. Also, getting a sense of the lay of the land and what the learning objectives are is important for any quality tutoring to occur.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin. I also earned a master's in liberal arts from a local, private university, with concentrations in English, philosophy, lingusitics, and Spanish. I have 15 years' worth of teaching experience at the college level at both four-year universities and two-year colleges, and over 20 years' of one-on-one tutoring experience at the college level. And the long-anticipated PhD is finally in the works, too.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard pricing: $20 per hour.
How did you get started teaching?
I was very fortunate to have had some strong academic mentors who guided me along the way when it became obvious that I had classroom strengths that could not go untapped.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with college students of all ages. But I also have extensive experience working with dual-credit high school students, those students earning high school and college credit simultaneously.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Group interaction and strong dialogue in the classroom is what I thrive on. You can be a part of that too!
