About
I have taught ESL to adults since 2012. I specialize in teaching sound and pronunciation, basic sentence structure and reading comprehension in fluent English and intermediate Spanish. My goal as an online instructor is to help ESL students improve pronunciation of vowels and consonants using the English alphabet.
I have taught as a volunteer in the United States and in South Korea (2 years). I have TEFL and Celta certification and I am a former AmeriCorps volunteer. I worked at a non-profit organization as an ESL teacher (AmeriCorps volunteer) and gained more experience teaching language acquisition.

I love to help people reach their goals. It is very rewarding when students tell me they have been complimented by their co-workers about how well they are speaking; they feel more comfortable helping children with homework; and they receive more tips at their place of work. The level of appreciation students express makes everything worthwhile.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to ask students why do they want to learn English: for their job, to travel, to shop, etc. I try to figure out where they are in basic pronunciation, basic grammar structure and conversation. This will help me to point them in the right direction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I taught ESL as a volunteer here in the United States since June 2012 including in South Korea for two years. I have certification in TEFL and Celta from the International Program at The University of Texas in Austin (UT).
I have worked as an ESL Instructor at Austin Community College since 2018 as well and attended many training sessions online and in person (prior to the pandemic). My experience includes working with different age groups (elementary school, middle school, high school and community college level). I also taught Business English as a volunteer to working professionals in South Korea.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard pricing system begins at $20.00 pr/hr.
How did you get started teaching?
I discovered that I always enjoyed showing someone how to do something (administrative tasks in the office, how to succeed with customer service duties in retail and now teaching ESL students to master English). I found out recently that I come from a family of teachers, and that is what cemented my decision to never stop teaching. I love to empower people that they can learn English. It's been almost nine years now, and I cannot stay away from teaching.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from all levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced). I have more experience working with lower level students due to teaching English pronunciation and syllable accent stress. Many students I worked with knew how to speak but could not write sentences and vice versa. Other students came from educated backgrounds but needed education about workforce development job readiness skills such as resume writing, speaking in metaphors and using acronymns here in the states.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was teaching an online summer course in June 2020 and it was the last day of class. We were saying our goodbyes and one of the students read aloud a thank you letter to me for my teaching abilities to the class. It was a very challenging time because we were all so new at online classes. It was so emotional to the point that I cried. It was a boost for me because at the time a family member of mine was in the hospital (non-Covid related) and I could not see her.
