About this tutor

I take a very strengths based approach in meeting the student exactly where they are in their learning process. No pressure to ever have it all figured out, to know what's going on, or to be exellent. It's my job to meet you on your level and break it down in a way that you can digest and best understand. I also tutor from the convience of your phone, tablet, or laptop so there's never any stress about making it to tutor sessions. It can all be done right from the comfort of your home!

My favorite thing about turoring is the "Light bulb moment". It's that moment when I can see things starting to fall into place for the student and their face lights up because they're actually understanding math for the first time in a very long time. That's the most rewarding thing I could ask for and what keeps me coming back every day to do it again.

I like that Caleb Crago got down on my 9 year olds level. He set in the floor with him & used blocks, cups, and many other objects to explain 3rd grade math visually. My son stayed engaged, had fun, and learned his multiplication facts all at the same time. Caleb did a great job in recognizing my sons learning styles & knew exactly how to teach him on his level. My sons grades reflect a great tutor.

He possesses many qualities that normal “tutors” do not. He is not only smart he is sociable. He is the kind of tutor that doesn’t just tell you to figure it out. He gets on your level and walks you through every step. I would have not been near as successful on my ACT or in any of my courses in high school without his help and guidance. As I have moved farther away from him to go to college. HE STILL HELPS ME! I can either shoot him a text if it’s a quick problem or if I am struggling with a concept I can do his Skype program! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Caleb took the time to look into the grade level appropriate work that we needed, and then did an assessment to see where we really landed. He was SO patient, and made math easier and more enjoyable for my child who struggled to comprehend the work. My child walked away from each session feeling more confident. Several years later we still talk about the summer we did tutoring & how great it was. I would definitely use Caleb for any of my children, and I would highly recommend him!

Caleb has to be one of the most patient and truly caring tutors out there. He genuinely wants to help you understand exactly what it is that your learning. His heart is truly that of a teacher and it’s always a calm and fun experience.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

My first step in working with a new student is making them comfortable and learning what style of teaching works best for them. Everyone is different and everyone needs things explained in a different way, so my biggest goal is to innitially learn the learning style of the student that way the material we cover can be presented in a way that they are able to understand and they truly feel like the tutoring session was worth their time and money.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I'm currently a university student and have been an academic tutor, focusing in math and science, for the last five years.

What types of students have you worked with?

I've worked with all types of students, in many subject, and of all ages. I have worked with those who struggle with dyslexia with great results as well as those who may have other learning impediments. Those are never a problem at all. For me it all comes back to getting on the student's level and figuring out how to best help them right where they are.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would advise a student to not only hire someone who is intelligent in the subject, but someone who has experience with teaching to different learning styles. It's one thing to be very smart and know the material, it's an entierly different thing to be able to recognize learning patterns and put a plan together to help a student succeed in a given subject. These two skills put together make for a great tutor!

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

My biggest advice when approaching someone, me in particular, is don't over think it. Don't feel embaressed that you're needing help, and don't be ashamed to ask! We all need help in something at one point or another. I'm proud of you for recognizing that you may need some help and would love to be able to help you out!
