Mathnasium Of Plano
About
We have been providing math help for Plano students for 13 years. "We teach math that makes sense to kids" with a proven proprietary method in use in over 800 Mathnasium Learning Centers worldwide. An independent testing agency has found that on average, 99% of Mathnasium students improve their grades.
I first got the "teaching bug" as an instructor pilot when a struggling student pilot suddenly yelled "Oh, I see!" Now, years later, I hear that same excited expression dozens of times when our students finally "get it." These are the moments that teachers live for. We don't get rich but we are rich in satisfaction.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We give each new student a math skills assessment, usually on the last completed grade. He/She is tested on all the Texas requirements (TEKS) from the first grade through his/her last completed grade. We use these results to prepare a unique customized lesson plan for each child. First, we review / refresh anything lacking in their math foundation. In addition to these lessons, we use information from parents and teachers to help the student catch up, keep up, and get ahead of their current grade in school.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Each instructor must excel on a battery of rigorous tests including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus. Positions are competitive based on these scores and a personal interview. Next, each instructor must undergo about 80 hours of training in Mathnasium methods and standards. Finally, our instructors are supervised and monitored during a months-long probationary period to ensure they are capable of working with students of all ages and all capabilities from "Kindergarten to Calculus."
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our customers pay from $8/hr to about $25/hour depending on how long they have been members and how often they attend sessions. The average is about $14/hour. These prices are based on a flat monthly fee divided by the average number of sessions attended.
