About
I have been a home educator for 26 years and I have graduated three of my four children. My last student is 11th grade. I am very passionate about education and learning and because of that in 2014 I started working with other families whose children needed help with various subjects, such as, math, reading, spelling, history, science, and so much more. I began opening my home to many students and parents who were looking for more than just "school", they were looking for enjoyment and new experiences. Biology labs , such as dissections, became one of my most sought after class. I am also an educator who thinks out of the box and presents materials in a fun, new, and fresh way. I believe that every student is different and deserves the education that is right for them. I also started a Facebook homeschool group that has grown to over 650 members in my local area. I am knowledgeable in most curriculums and within moments of sitting with both parent and student I can tell what will work for them. I tutor kindergarten through third grade, but I can tutor on up to high school level. I enjoy seeing students grasp a concept that they could not grasp beforehand.
I don't see this as "work" because I love teaching children of all ages. I have the opportunity to take something that is "difficult" and turn it into a great learning experience that get students and parents excited. Individualized attention is one of the best ways a student can progress and my "job" is to make sure they just don't progress with me, but in whatever educational environment they are in. I love encouraging and telling a student that they can do anything and that "practice makes progress." After that they are no longer afraid to make mistakes.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I listen to the parents about what they believe their student needs assistance in. From there, I ask about student's learning style and I suggest resources for assessing where the student is academically. Then I meet with the student one-on-one to also help me to identify what type of student they are. I then prepare my plan of action and share it with the parent.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 26 years of experience teaching in and out of the home.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is $25 per hour per subject or $90 per month for a subject.
How did you get started teaching?
I wanted my children to have a good foundation and started teaching them at home. I sent the first one to Montessori kindergarten and they teacher asked me why I sent her when I was doing such a great job. From there began my journey into home education.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with many children on different levels of learning, maturities, and disabilities, but most are in the homeschooling realm.
