I would highly recommend Sam Rhodes as a math tutor! He helped my son with Pre Cal and grades improved. He is reasonable priced, communicated well with teacher & myself, developed a good rapport with my son, had good knowledge of content and showed up on time. I would use him again if needed. A fine gentleman that is going to be successful in life.

Sam Rhodes was an excellent tutor who not only helped me improve my grade in my challenging calculus class, but also helped me gain self-confidence in my work. Although to me the subject was anything but exciting, I never dreaded going to my sessions and in fact looked forward to them because I knew that they would be beneficial to my learning. I would recommend Sam to anyone who is looking for a tutor who cares if you succeed.

Sam tutored our nephew this summer in math. Our nephew was having trouble in math all last year but this year after having Sam tutor him this summer math has become one of his best subjects. His first evaluation showed a marked improvement in math. I would highly recommend Sam as a math tutor.

Sam has been an awesome tutor for my HS aged granddaughter in preparation for the ACT this fall. It has been time well spent. We are confident that she will perform at a much higher level based on her instruction and guidance from Sam. He comes highly recommended!!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

For my classroom mathematics tutoring, I typically utilize classwork, homework, quizzes, and tests for lessons.

For my standardized test preparation tutoring of the math sections, I utilize a diagnostic test in conjunction with a self-written test prep guide with over 200 questions and answers.

For my English and Writing students, I take an individual approach based on the needs of the specific client. I do not have one single approach for these students as the students' needs vary drastically in this section as compared to my other services.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy in the Class of 2016, and I will graduate from Vanderbilt University in the Class of 2020. I am double majoring in Mathematics and Engineering Science at Vanderbilt.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I charge $40/hr for new clients seeking tutoring in classroom studies and essay prep and $60/hr for new clients seeking tutoring in standardized test preparation and college admissions assistance.
